With a population of 130,000 people, 78 different villages, and 32 square miles, it is easy to get lost in The Villages. But there is a way to help break down The Villages into smaller parts. Think of a ladder. There are two main vertical lines in a ladder. The 2 main north-south roads in The Villages are Buena Vista Boulevard and Morse Boulevard. Then there are horizontal lines in the ladder. Starting in the north, the top road is highway 42, next is 466, then comes 466A and then highway 44. Spanish Springs town square is located south of 42 and north of 466. Lake SUmter Landing is between 466 and 466A. Brownwood Paddock square is between 466A and 44. South of 44 you will find the new areas and the newest square, Sawgrass. Lastly, what is called the Fenney area, is even more south, south of the turnpike. Considering the image of a ladder, at almost all of the intersections between a north-south road (either Buena Vista or Morse) and the rungs of east-west roads, there are shopping and restaurant areas. Each of those areas have their own name such as Colony, Pinellas, Mulberry, Southern Trace, and La Plaza Grande. Learning which areas are where can help you get your bearings when making your way around or deciding where you want to live within The Villages. Don't worry, getting lost in The Villages is very common. You will always run into friendly Villagers who can direct you to where you want to go. Other resources include paper maps that are available for purchase at The Villages Banner Mercantile stores in each of the town squares. The Villages app for your phone can provide either car or golf cart directions.
