How do I find part-time work in The Villages?

Just because you're retired, doesn't mean you might not still want to work. A part-time job can help you meet people, keep active, and bring in a little spending money. How do you find pat-time work once you're here in The Villages? Keep reading for places to start and resources to help you navigate the part-time work opportunities in The Villages.

Although The Villages is a 55-plus community and the vast majority of residents are retired, sometimes a Villager might want to find part-time work; either to meet people, keep busy, or for some added income. Finding part-time work in The Villages is quite easy! Certainly the easiest way to find part-time work is to inquire about jobs at the stores, restaurants, and services you frequent. The Daily Sun newspaper has a help wanted section as well. The Village's Charter School, as well as many of the school districts outside the bubble, are always seeking substitute teachers; no teaching certificate needed! And you can choose as many or as few days as you would like to work! Last, finding a job to work for The Villages themselves can be found on The Villages app or at www.thevillages.com under the careers tab at the bottom. All jobs will require an online application and a resume to upload. A computer and a smartphone should be all you need to create a current resume and apply for jobs. If you want help creating a resume you can find free resume help on www.aarp.com or, for a small fee, you can have someone create your resume for you on www.fiverr.com. Your neighbors might be able to assist as well as at the local Villages library. From gate attendant, to Village watch, to a Village's ambassador, to retail jobs or substitute teaching, there are many, many opportunities for Villagers of all ages to work close to home!

The Villages part-time work opportunities do NOT pay well. Currently $10-12 per hour. If you are working exclusively for money, you may want to find a job outside of The Villages. If you seek work outside "the bubble", be prepared for interviews to take place over Zoom with a webcam. If you computer or laptop doesn't have a webcam or the Zoom app, you may want to consider getting them.
